API stands for Application Programming Interface. What this means is that we have exposed some of the functionality of JobCrank’s service in a way that can be consumed by your own custom programming. You can essentially integrate some of our search routines and job posting routines right into your own custom applications or web site.
All of our services are exposed using SOAP, which is a protocol for exchanging XML-based messages over computer networks using HTTP. We choose this method, because being text based; it is consumable by a wide variety of platforms and services. Because it is accessible using standard HTTP calls, it also tends to avoid most firewall issues.
Currently the following API’s are publicly available (click name below for more info):

What the API can be used for:
- Automate the uploading of Jobs and Projects from your database. This is useful for placement agencies who may want to automatically publish many jobs on a regular basis.
- Include a real-time listing of your own jobs hosted on JobCrank.com right on your own web site. Using XSLT templates, you can transform the returned XML into a browser friendly HTML.
- Add value to your web site by including local directories of members providing a specific service. For example, Real Estate web sites could include lists of local contractors for their customers who buy a new home.
- Do something we haven’t thought of! Using our API, you can build on the service we already developed and add your own ideas.
Our API is free to use. If you have any special needs, please feel free to contact us. We are always looking for ways to better serve our customers.
